Splitting Strategy - Maths

In maths we have been learning how to do all of the times tables. My group has been learning how to do the splitting strategy to complete a question to get the answer. Here is my DLO so you know how to do the strategy. I hope you Enjoy :)

Community Time - Writing

In community time we sang the karakia and the national anthem to get warmed up and because we had to. After that we sang some songs to make us happy. Then the teacher wrote some questions, we had to pick 1 of them and then we wrote about them.

1) This week, I felt accomplished... when I got a certificate from school for being good in soft material for technology. I think it was because at the end of the session I was the only one still picking up rubbish on the floor. After that the soft material teacher gave me CARR card stamps.

2) This week, I felt a sense of belonging... Is my family because when we go and do something fun that we all like doing i felt like this is us, This is what we should be doing. One day my family and I went to hamner springs for the weekend and we went on the hydroslides and the hot pools. After that we went out for lunch also we went out for tea. Then we went home it was a fun weekend.

3) This week, I felt affirmed in my unique identity when...

I played handball and when I play soccer because not many people play them at morning tea or lunch. When I play soccer and handball I play with some of my friends they are Levi, Cody, Hunter, Ty, Zac, Levi.k, Nathan, Vin, Zack, Jesse and Tobey ect...

4) This week, what I noticed about my feelings & emotions was...

That I could control them when I am frustrated or mad. Sometimes I dont get really mad but I do get frustrated when we do the same things every time at school for that period. When I get mad it is when people pisses me off when they are annoying me when I am doing my work.


 

Tane Mahuta - Blogging

In Tane Mahuta, there were 3 things we do Weeding the greenhouse, Separated scrap metal for money, Class clean out and Panted seeds. I was planting seeds and we cut some brunches off the trees. I was cutting trees for about 30 min and then we were planting and watering seeds so they can grow. The seeds we are growing are spinach, celery and coriander. To water the plants we filled up a water bottle and we were watering them with that. In the garden area Levi, Cody and Annaliese put one of our finger in the dirt to make a hole so we can put the seed inside. After that we covered the holes with dirt and then we watered them. For the scrap metal the teachers wanted us to research how much we can sell them for.  For 45kg we can get it for $10 and for 907kg we can get $195 per year.

 

Hurumanu Arts

In Art we have been drawing and writing storie boards for a story we are making in a stop motion. In the storie there has to manarkitanga  in it. Manarkitanga means showing kindness to someone and hospitality. At the start we had to get into groups to do this task, in my group his name is hunter.

The teacher put some questions on the board to answer about this task and what we have done so far. Here are the questions and answers.

Who is in your group?

In my group I only have 1 person which is my friend Hunter.

What are your roles?

My role is a director, drawer and the camera person and hunter is helping me with drawing and the camera person.

How does your story show manarkitanga?

My story shows manarkitanga by stopping the bully and helping him be the better person. BUT it isn't about humans its about mammals.

My story is about In the deep blue sea, a turtle comes along and the great white tries to eat the turtle, BUT it doesn't know that a blue whale comes along and stops it from getting eaten.

The reason why there's a drawing of an eye is to make you think that the shark and the whale is massive because I couldn't draw a massive shark and whale in the small box.

Tane Mahuta

In Tane Mahuta First there were 2 parts of the garden which was planting the vegetables and cleaning out the shed. I was cleaning out the shed because I didn't want to get dirty. First I was watching kids smashing some tables and ect.. that we didn't need. It was fun to watch but it would be even more fun if I was doing it but I wasn't allowed. After that I was helping lifting things in a pile so we can put them in a rubbish dump  later on. Then I went to the garden people have already planted Cauliflower, Broccoli, Beetroot and Cabbage and it looked really cool. After about an hour later we were all packing up, the reason why we were planting them vegetables because of the season. In the last couple of weeks we have been trying to make a garden and we did.

Maori - How to make a Hangi

In Maori we have been learning about how to make a hangi.  A hangi is food cooked under the ground. First you need to dig a hole big enough to put you food under. Then you need to make a fire at the bottom of the the pit then add the rocks on top and rest until rocks are white. After that place food in the pit meat goes on bottom and vegetables on top because meat needs to cook longer. Then cover the food with wet white sheets and dirt after 3 hours uncover the hangi and remove the food. After that eat and enjoy :)

Learning Confrences

On Thursday we had learning conferences. We had to make a slide, pictochart ect to explain some of the stuff we have been doing in class. Our parents come and I had to explain what we did on that slide. I did google slides to present it. The things we had to include in the google slides was reading plus, blog post about our CIP, Maths, A reading story that we had done in our hurumanu and snapshots of our spelling words and our spelling task. For the blog post we had to write why we had chosen that blog post, For the Maths we had to give an example, For the reading plus we had to write what we enjoying about them. Here is he google slide.
