Business studies - Rechargeable light bulbs

Today in business studies we had to come up with some ideas on how to make product better and how they can improved. Then we had to discuss what we wanted to do then we had to consider these things, Cost involved and what existing products would be using or competing against. After that we had to start designing our ideas on paper. What my group came up with was rechargeable light bulbs. After we had to answer some questions on this blog post.

What product you are trying to improve?

We are turning a normal light bulb to a rechargeable light bulb

Why you wanted to improve it?

Because we want to upgrade light bulbs to make them more better than they already are.

What would the changes be?

  • To make the chargeable light bulb to charge longer than it already does
  • To make it more brighter than it already is

Business studies

In business studies we have been looking at some idea's that could be improved, change or make better. After that we got into groups and our group came up with a bit of idea's on what we could change, improve or make better.

Here are some of the remaking creations that we have made up.

Ideas: Upgradeable creations - looks, differently built
Shoes - looks, foldable,  stretchy and moulds onto u
Clothes which need not a lot of cleaning
Deodorant - Lasts longer and the scent lasts longer as well
Windows-which can dim when light is too bright.
Rechargeable light bulbs- So you can recharge light bulbs

Glasses-which the user can change to someone’s eyesight quality

Sorry that this isn't a big blog.

Ho Chi Minh

This week in homeroom we have been learning about leaders and what they do. Then our teacher put a lot of leaders around the world that we had to write about and I have chosen Ho Chi Minh because I liked the awesome fact about him. Ho Chi Minh gained independence for Vietnam by winning the Vietnam was against the USA. After that there were questions that we had to answer about the person that we have chosen. Here are the questions and answers.

Who they were?

Ho Chi Minh was a human to gain independence for winning the Vietnam war.

What did they achieve?

What Ho Chi Minh achieved was that he defeated the french union in 1954 at the battle of Dien Bien Phu ending the first inochina war

When were they leaders?

In the 20th century

Why they were such incredible leaders?

He was a model with great attachment to the people because the revoluting cause is the cause of the masses & the power of the people is invincible.

How did they become so powerful & successful?

Because he was successful campain to make Vietnam independent. He was the president of north Vietnam from 1945 to 1969

A  fun fact: Around the world there are some leaders like Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh is embalmed and stuffed in a class box that he can fit in because people think that he is to important to get buried. Ho Chi Minh gets taken away about every few years to get embalmed. This is the same thing as Lenin's bodie

Here are some photos of them if you want to see them

Here is a clip about Ho Chi Minh

Kiwi Ingenuity - Business studies

Last week in business studies we were working out how to fix the kiwi bloke problem that our teacher made up. and then we had to write it down in a google doc. Here is the problem.

Your kiwi bloke has gone camping and taken tinned food to eat… but he’s forgotten the can opener!

How is he going to solve the problem??

This is what my group came up with.

  1. Use a knife to cut it open
  2. Order some uber eats instead
  3. Get a sharp piece of stick and STAB IT open
  4. Fruit trees
  5. Huhu grubs
  6. Get one of those safety lighters and have it there lighting on top of can then break it open

After that the class was looking at the people that invented these weird items that we were looking at. Then we answered 2 questions for each of the photos, there were about 9 pictures that we had to answer the 2 questions on. Here are what the pictures were called.

1. A mountain buggy
2.  Most benefit Waterside - Arthur's Pass
3. The scootboard
4. Spreadable butter
5. Clothing and equipment
6. A van boat
7. The cycle mower
8. The hedge trimmer

Here is what we wrote for each of them.

A mountain buggy:

  • It has construction on the picture to show how it works and it has the price on it.
  • $1.50 for a mountain buggy (LEGIT)
  • It’s taking something and using it for another purpose

  Waterside - Arthur's Pass

  • It sends water over the road so we they didn’t have to build a bridge
  • It is part of the water stream that goes around and around
  • It can be for using like a waterside otherwise its DEATH

The Scootboard:

  • You can hold onto something and not fall off
  • You can’t even ride it properly and do scooter tricks
  • It is for people that don’t have a brain to think about how to ride it

Spreadable butter:

  • Why is it so cheap for a block of butter for $1.00
  • It shows the construction on how it works and what it looks like
  • It doesn't make sense because there are easier solutions for this concept

Clothing and equipment:

  • The purpose of this concept is that it makes you warm, live and to be happy
  • The outdoor pack is to help you carry things so you don't have to carry it yourself with your own hands
  • It also has a tent to keep you under shelter and so you don’t get sick and get cold

A van boat:

  • Where is the motor or are there rafts to make it move
  • It is multipurpose for this concept of the van boat
  • Is there a motor if there is it is going to wreck the whole van in general

The cycle mower:

  • The cycle mower is easily unstable because it is going to snap of and your head is gonna go through the mower and kill yourself
  • The mower is so rusty it is going to break or destroy the whole thing in general

The hedge trimmer:

  • The straps that are holding the tractor thing can easily snap off and the human could die.
  • Good idea poorly executed.8
  • It's an easy way to trim the hedges but is very unsafe. Just use a ladder, people.

Today our teacher put questions on the TV about kiwi ingenuity then we had to answer them. Here are the questions.

1. Which one of these examples of kiwi Ingenuity do you think would be;

A. Of most benefit to New Zealanders? Give a reasonable example
B. Of least benefit to New Zealanders? Give a reasonable example

The most benefit example is the clothing and equipment because from my perspective everyone would use it cause it will help you when you are travelling or going camping somewhere for a holiday. The clothing helps you from being sick and to keep you warm and to keep you alive. The backpack can help you carry your things and for alot of things.

The least benefit example is the spreadable butter because it will be really hard to use from my perspective. I dont know why they made this item when you can easily just put it in the microwave or something to make it softer to spread then making this hard item. So I dont think many people will use this dumb item.

2. Choose the two examples of kiwi Ingenuity that you think would be the most likely to capture the imagination of people in other countries. Justify your choices.

The first one is the clothing and equipment because from my perspective everyone would use it cause it will help you when you are travelling or going camping somewhere for a holiday. The clothing helps you from being sick and to keep you warm and to keep you alive. The backpack can help you carry your things and for alot of things.

The second one is the van boat because it is way cheaper than buying a boat but instead you can just use your fan and make it into a boat. In my head im thinking about the engine at the bottom of the van because it could wreak the whole thing.

Home Economics - Scones

Yesterday in Home economics we made scones. In the process first we got all of the ingredients together so we dont need to go back and forth and so we dont interrupt other peoples learning. Then in the process of baking the scones first we sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. After we cut the butter in small cubes then rub butter into the dry ingredients with fingure tips until it resembles bread crumbs, the reason we we rub with our fingure tips is because they are way cooler that out palm. The next step was that we made a well in the middle of the dry ingredients then we added the milk gradually, next we mix quickly with a knife to form a soft dough. After that we lightly kneed the scone dough a few times on the table top, after we placed a piece of baking paper on an oven tray. After that we cut dough into 12 pieces even sized and then we placed dough onto the oven tray (keep them quite close together towards the centre of the tray. Then you get a cooking brush and brush scones with milk but not to much. Finally Bake your scones at 180c for about 10 minutes and when your scones are ready put them onto a rack to let them cool down and do the most boring part of all clean up after yourself and do the DISHES

Health - Friends vs Fake friends

In health we were learning about friends vs fake friends and what they are and what they mean. The reason we are doing this is because it is part of health and because it is part of our well being. Then we watched a video of the differences of friends vs fake friends and what they do. After that the whole class went onto a google slide and we got our own slide to write what examples of Friends vs fake friends are. It was really easy and really fun to do with the whole class. Here is a picture of the google slide that I made on my part.
