The Marketing Mix - Place

In Business Studies we have been continuing on doing the 4 blog posts for our assesment about market day, this is the third blog post so far which is about the place on where we are going to sell our products and there is 1 more blog post to go to finish this assesment.

Where will you be producing your product? (do you need a specific space)

- We will be producing our product outside where our stand is going to be to sell our products. We need to be outside because if we are selling all of our products there will be alot of people and we need to be somewhere that is hot so then the food dont go cold.

Where would be a good location for your product on market day? (Inside, outside, quiet corner, middle of the room)

- A good location would be outside where there is sun so then when the sausage sizzle is cooked they need to stay hot. The location needs to be in a cold area as well so then the toffee apples can stay cold and not hot so then they can taste better.

Pedestrian and traffic flow (does your business rely on people walking pass or is your product unique enough that people will seek you out?

- Yes our business is going to make people come and buy all of it because I just have a feeling it will and everyone loves sausage sizzle on a nice day and toffee apples as a treat.

Competition - who else will be selling similar products to you on market day? How will your product stand out?

- I am not sure because I dont know if anyone is doing the same thing as us on market day

The Marketing Mix - Price

In business studies we have been continuing on doing the 4 blog posts for our assesment about market day. This is the second blog post so far which is about the price of our product that we making and selling. After this blog post I have 2 more blog posts to go about the place and promotion and then I am done for this assesment about market day

How did you work out what price you were going to sell your product at?

- We were thinking of an reasonable price for the toffee apples and the sausage sizzles because if we were going to see the products at a expensive price then no one will buy the products and we wouldn't make any profit. We decided to make the toffee apples $1.50 and $2.00 for the sausage sizzles because if you see people selling sausages outside of the warehouse or somewhere they are about $2.00 each and there is alot of people buying them.

How will you ensure that your product is worth the price you are asking people to pay (quality control)?

- The toffee apples are worth the product because they are $1.50 each and that is a very cheap price for a big item. They are worth the price because mostly everyone likes to eat a candy covered in a apple because it is delicious and it is fun to eat with. The sausage sizzles are worth the product because they are $2.00 each and that is quiet cheep for a sausage and everyone love sausage sizzle

What price are others (B&E group/real world business) charging for the same good (use a table to show this)?

- There is a another group doing sausage sizzle but I am not sure how much they are selling it for or what their business is called

What else will you consider when it comes to the price of your product?

- Our group have not considered doing anything else for the price, it is still the same

The marketing mix - Product

In business studies we have been doing blog posts for our assesment about market day. we have to do 4 blog posts for this assesment and the 4 blog posts are product, price, place and promotion. This is the first blog post so far. For the last 2 weeks for market day we have been planning out what we are going to create and sell. Our products that we are creating and selling are toffee apples and sausage sizzle because we have experience of making toffee apples and cooking sausage sizzle and because we like cooking and baking cause it is easy to make.

(Features) What is the product, what can they do, how are they used, what is their purpose?

- The product is a food item that you can eat and sell for a bit of money. The toffee apples are covered in toffee and are on a stick so then it is used by holding the stick to eat the toffee apple so the toffee doesn't get onto your fingures. The purpose is to make people want to buy a delicious food because people like a treat and food every now and again

What quality is your product?

- The product toffee apples are going to be in all different sizes because apples come in all different sizes anyway. The toffee apples are going to be blue and red because they are colours that stand out and the texture will be quiet hard because toffee is hard. The sausage sizzle will taste like a normal sausage with bread and sauce but we might get spicy sausages or chicken sausages just to make it different, the texture is going to be like a normal sausage because the texture isn't going to be any different.

Size / Volume / shape?

- The product toffee apples are going to be in all different sizes because apples come in all different sizes anyway. The shape of the toffee apples are going to be circle like the apples are normally are. The size on the sausage depends on what it is because american hotdogs are long and skinny but normal cheese sausages are big and not that long. The shape of the sausages are going to be kind of like a long oval shape but I don't really know what shape they are.

Packing?

- The sausage sizzle isn't going to have any packaging because sausages don't have packaging cause they are hot and cooked. The toffee apples might have packaging but we haven't decided yet because we don't know what they would be packed in.

Ingredients / Raw materials

- The ingredients that we are using for the toffee apples are 20 apples, sugar, water, cream of tarter, food colouring and vinegar. The ingredients that we are using for the sausage sizzles are bread, onion, butter, sauce and sausages. The raw materials that we might be using are for the packaging for the toffee apples but we don't know what packaging we are using yet if we are using it.

Does it fit into a category of products that already exist?

- Candy apples, sausage sizzle

Do you need to provide any services for your product

-  No services need to be provided

Sustainability - Summary

For the last 13 weeks of this Hurumanu called sustainability we have done many things about sustainability and other things about the world. This was probably the best hurumanu so far this year because we could listen to music, eat when we are doing our work and we could drink when ever we want and but most importantly doing all of the fun work we had to do. I thing I like about our teacher Mr Carter is he actually explains the activity or the work we have to do properly and he also actually explains the topic we are learning about properly so we actually know what to do. But most teachers just say what we have to do and doesn't explain it that much.

For the first week of this hurumanu we watched a documentary on Netflix on Coronavirus and how it was made and developed. Then we were looking about sustainability and what it is. In the second week of this hurumanu we were learning about statistical inquiry and how to collect our data using graphs. The graphs we used were pie, bar, line and stacked bar graphs I used the pie or the stacked bar graph because they are the easier ones. In the third week of this hurumanu we were looking at natural resources and more of sustainability but first we did a few activitys about natural resources but before that we learned about what are natural resources and their definitions. In week four we watched some videos about writing and why we do it, then we were learning about writing on sustainability issues. In week five we did a writing (cont) and research about sustainability issues. In week six-eight we did some maths and been learning about area, population and calculations on mathletics, our teacher also taught us about measurements. Then in week eight we learnt about applications of area, perimeter and volume so what we did with that is we made things with 3D on tinkercad. In week nine we did a revision and a catch up on mathletics and then we did a assesment on mathletics. In week nine-thirteen we did a sustainability report on a topic of our choice. Towards this topic we did a research about our topic for our essay that we did. After that a few weeks after that we got to choose to make a game on game fruit or on a game website or we got to make a board game about a sustainability topic. My group chose to make a board game but we didn't have enough time to finish making the board, we did our board based of monopoly and gumption.

Here is a photo of our board that we didn't get to finish because we didn't have enough time. I dont like any of the colours but we did the board game about endangered animals. Here is the draft and planning on making the board game.

Society Endangered

Endangered animals:

  • Tiger
  • Gorilla
  • Giant pandas
  • Black rhino
  • Aisan elephant
  • Orangutans
  • Snow leopard
  • Leatherback sea turtle

Conservation practice
Wildlife protection

Other cards:

Reward Cards
Risk cards
Go to jail cards

Rules:

  • Aim of the game is to collect 3 full sets of animals to win
  • Maximum of 3 resource cards per animal
  • You have to trade your way out of trouble by selling some of your resources.
  • The bank isn't allowed to buy back anything
  • You can trade some of your resources to another player
  • If you go to jail you have to miss your next turn or pay $200 to get out
  • If you go pass go you can collect $200 from the bank
  • If you land on tax you have to pay $150

Game setup:

  • One player is the banker
  • Maximum of 4 players
  • Place the risk cards and the SE cards down on the board
  • Give each player 10x $1 10x $5 10x $10 10x $20 4x $100 2x $500

Critical reflection:

I really liked this hurumanu because it was very fun to do and I learned alot on sustainability and writing. I would of liked Mr Carter to give us more time on this board game so we could finish it.

English - 30 Second Film

For the last 3 periods of English we have been making a 30 second film for English. In the first period our teachers showed us about 9 things we could do the 30 second film about and they were getting an award at a ceremony, sneaking into the library, stealing a book and getting caught, retrieving a ball kicked into a bush, getting sent to referral, studying for / sitting and getting a grade back on a test, scoring and winning goal in a sports match, witnessing and stepping in to stop a bullying incident, making the perfect tik tok - from practice to publish or getting distracted / falling asleep during class. My group did the retrieving a ball kicked into a bush one but we changed it up a bit by playing passes and then it gets thrown in the bush and we did it from there. Here is the 30 second video that we made.

What was your film about?

The film is about Jayden and Jared are throwing the tennis ball to each other and then the ball gets lost inside a bush, Then Jayden walks to get the ball from the bush and Peni jumps out and grabs Jayden and drags him on the ground, Jared runs and tackles Peni to the ground and then Peni rolls Jared on his back and beats him up.

Something I enjoyed in making my film?

What I enjoyed was filming the film and working with my friends because we had a lot of laughs when Peni was acting to be a pedo.

Something I learned when making my film?

What I learned was how hard it was to do the film the way we actually wanted it to do including all of the angles and shots.

Some film techniques I included were?

The film techniques we included were the long wide shot, POV, Tilt, Medium shot and the close up shot

Something I found challenging was?

What I found challenging the most was actually finding where to do the 30 second film because we couldn't find the right bush and place to do it in

What I would do differently next time?

Next time we could add more shots and angles to make the film more interesting and to add more people into it.

Sustainability Hurumanu - Research on Giant Pandas

For the last like 4 weeks in Hurumanu 1 we have been writing our essays about sustainability, the research Ive been researching about Giant Pandas going extinct. In essays you should have an introduction, 3 paragraphs and a conclusion. First I researched what are the causes, effects and solutions on how to make Giant Pandas not extinct. Then I put that information into a google slide to make your structure to make it easier to make your essay.

Here is my slideshow:

Then we had to write our essay into our own words and here it is.

Introduction:
Endangered animals are important because they are dying and getting killed of deforestation and habitat destruction.

Causes of Giant Pandas becoming extinct:
Pandas population have been lowered because of habitat destruction. Pandas habitats get taken over by development which means it is pushing pandas into smaller and liveable places. Habitat destruction can also means there is not much food which means their won’t be much food for them to eat. Pandas eat many types of bamboo that bloom at different times of the year. If one type of bamboo is destroyed by development from people which means it can leave the pandas with nothing to have or eat. It can make a risk of starvation for the giant pandas. People go hunting for giant pandas for their fur to make clothes and other things.
Effects on Giant Pandas going extinct:
Giant pandas die because of all sorts of things, one of them is deforestation and that is because it destroys and takes away the bamboo so then they cannot eat and they will die from starvation. Giant pandas also die because people destroy their habitat by taking all of the bamboo so then they have a livable home to live in. If they don’t have anything to eat and somewhere to live then they will die and become extinct.
How can we stop this:

Giant Pandas have lost their habitats because of deforestation and deforestation destroyed and took away bamboo so then the giant pandas couldn't eat and could die from starvation. But some government’s has worked to restore and protect pandas bamboo habitats and it has shown positive and good results. People can donate and restore bamboo for the pandas so they can live.
Here are some websites about giant pandas going extinct.
