On Monday in PE we were doing our sprints practise before athletics. First we got into groups on who wanted to do what out of 100m, 200m, 300m, 800m and 1500m, most people did 100m and thats what I did. After that each group got a stopwatch and then we went outside to get ready to do our sprints I only took  10 seconds and then me and my friends were mucking around climbing trees and then it was time to come back to the gym and do a log post. For me the time went really fast.

Types of government

For the last couple of weeks in power to the people we have been learning about politics. What I have learnt about politics was that the word politics comes from the Greek politika meaning relating to public life. After that our teachers introduced to us a interdependent matrix that they have made for us. On that matrix was different links to tasks that we had to do within the time limit that we had. There were different tasks for this topic that we had to do some of them were Types of government, Our prime minister, critical literacy, slam poetry and much more. Here is a photo of different types of topics.

The one that I have chosen first was types of government it was very fun to do when you are stuck into it like I was. I did it on paper which took it even longer and now im coping it onto this blog Here is the work that I have done it is pretty long.

Brainstorm what do you think a government is? ... Ask the person beside you? Ask someone else? ...

What do you think a government is ?

People that protects our country
People that makes it a better place if something goes wrong
Sorts out a problem or trys to fix it

Write down any words you have never heard before and find the dictionary definition for them e.g. anarchy.

Anarchy - A state of disorder due to absence of authority or other controlling system.

Administering - Manage and be responsible for the running of a business

Democracy - A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state.

Dictatorship - Government by a dictator

1. Do you think that countries or communities that are bigger (more people) need a more complex government system than smaller ones need?

Yes I do because they need more people on the job so they can make the population more better & bigger

2. What benefit(s) do you think people gain from being in a group?

You can get more information & sharing ideas to people so they have ideas from that idea

3. How can having a leader or group of leaders help people?

Because they have the power to help people to be better & to control the people

4. Why do you think some countries have or prefer to have no government (anarchy)?

Because some people dont vote for them cause they dont make the country a better place and they dont have authority to control the system

Watch the human rights video and take note (in our book) of 5 new things you have learnt!

What I have learnt:
  1. Our human rights are protected from the lar
  2. Kings only gave rights to people they like
  3. In the 20th century brutal dictators came to power
  4. In 1998 parliament passed the human the human rights act, which made our human rights part of UK
  5. Human rights protect children, elderly people in care & ect... They protect all of us
Dictators: A ruler with total power over a country, typically one who has obtained control by force

Name 5 leader around the world (past and present) that are dictators

Benito Mussolini
Julius Caesar
Giuseppe Garibaldi
Emilio Aguinaldo
Mao Zedong

List 8 countries that are still governed by dictators!! Write this in your books, and use a atlas to help you

Russia
China
Saudi Arabia
Yemen
Oman
Kongo
Vietnam
Algeria

On the map you are given, find each of the counties and create a key and colour code it.  Add the country name and the name of the dictator. Complete using FACTS (Frame, Arrow, Colour, Key, Title, Scale)

The teacher said I didn't had to do this part

What is the country that is called Burma also known as?
1. Myanmar

Who is the leader of the country?
2. Win Myint

Brunei, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Jordan, Bahrain, Morocco, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates. Add these countries to your map. Colour them a different colour to the Dictatorships
Didn't have to do this part cause I didn't do the first part of the map
Watch video on Why we Still have Monarchies?
Make a mind map and add 10 facts that are included in the video
  1. Victoria to become the longest running British monarch in history
  2. About one in 6 Britons feel the monarchy should be completely abolished
  3.  The UK isn't the only country to retain a royal family
  4. There are around 40 nations worldwide with monarchs
  5. One of the most successful absolute monarchies is in Vatican city
  6. But in most nations with royal families like Sweden or Japan, monarch power is minimal
  7. In 2008 the grand duke of Luxembourg refused to sign a euthanasia bill into law
  8. Today one of the most important royal duties is with philanthropy
  9. Queen Elizabeth the second to said to have done more charity than any other monarch in history
  10. British royalty is said to contribute to more than 3,000 charities world wide
Here is my mind map that I have created

Can you think of any communist communities in New Zealand. This  video will help you answer the questions on your different types of government.

Where did communism begin?

The 1917 October revolution in Russia made conditions for the rise to state power of Vladimir Lenin's Bolsheviks.

Who was the father of communism?

German philosopher & sociologist Karl Max

What are the main points come up with 5?

Democracy
Oligarchy
Authoritarianism
Monarchy
Totalitarianism

In your books list five other types of government that you can find and give a definition for each of them.

Democracy - A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state

Oligarchy - A small group of people having control of a country or organisation

Authoritarianism - The enforcement  or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom

Monarchy - A form of government with monarch at the head

Totalitarianism - A system of government that is centralised and dictatorial and required complete subservience to the state

Steve Jobs

This week for business studies we have been learning about entrepreneurs and what they do. What entrepreneurs do is that they organise a business or businesses and they show other people how to do so. Teachers told us to get into pairs and chose a entrepreneur and research about them, Benjamen and I chose Steve Jobs but he passed away in 2011 from cancer. We had to answer some questions about about this person. The questions will be in the slideshow that I am going to show you.

Here is the slide show that we have made.
