1) What is an Alkaline Metal?

- It is a metal that gets really explosive easily because it is in the first group in the periodic table on the left that is highlighted in red. Alkaline Metal is alot softer than most metals

2) Where are they on the periodic table?

- It is in the first group in the periodic table that is highlighted in red.

3) What Reaction did we do yesterday?

Observations: When the Alkaline Metal went into the warm water it blew up because Alkaline is in the first group of the periodic table and the metals that are in the first group are the ones that get explosive really easily. First when the Alkaline went into the water it started to fizz a bit, then flames started to form inside the water and then it blew up. When it blew up there was little flames that went everywhere that it looked like a firework.

Products & Reactants: Sodium Metal and Water + Sodium Oxide and Hydrogen Gas

Chemical equations: NA + H2O --------------------- Na2O + H2

4) Why do these metals react this way?

- It only has one Electron in the outer shell.
