English - Factual or Satirical

Factual and Satirical news websites here:

All news websites have alot of articles and information but most of the articles seem fake. The websites itself might look like it is believable but they might be satirical, there are alot of ways to find out if they are factual or satirical.

Choose two from the same country, ones has to be one factual and one satirical:

- The Onion

- The New York times

Compare the two articles:

New York Times - On NYT website the titles/headings of the articles seem to me believable and realistic because they had also had written articles about Donald trump but this time the topics are more realistic and factual. The home page on NYT website is very realistic and has several bold headings and up to date stories. The information on the articles has factual information and the pictures of the text seem real and professional to the text.

The Onion - At first, the onion looks like a normal website, it has many news articles with real/legit photos and titles/headings. The big thing that gave it away was that the news articles was fake and the titles of the articles were factual and non realistic. The texts were satirical and seem fake and the information on the articles were satirical and to me I did not believe them at all unlike the NYT.

5 things that you could use to check if a website is factual or satirical:

- The name of the website.

- You can see if the website is secure or not on the website.

- The titles of the articles (see if the titles are eye catching or believable)

- Check if the text is up to date and seem believable to you.

- Check if the authors who wrote the article are displayed.
