Your kiwi bloke has gone camping and taken tinned food to eat… but he’s forgotten the can opener!
How is he going to solve the problem??
This is what my group came up with.
- Use a knife to cut it open
- Order some uber eats instead
- Get a sharp piece of stick and STAB IT open
- Fruit trees
- Huhu grubs
- Get one of those safety lighters and have it there lighting on top of can then break it open
After that the class was looking at the people that invented these weird items that we were looking at. Then we answered 2 questions for each of the photos, there were about 9 pictures that we had to answer the 2 questions on. Here are what the pictures were called.
1. A mountain buggy
2. Most benefit Waterside - Arthur's Pass
3. The scootboard
4. Spreadable butter
5. Clothing and equipment
6. A van boat
7. The cycle mower
8. The hedge trimmer
Here is what we wrote for each of them.
A mountain buggy:
- It has construction on the picture to show how it works and it has the price on it.
- $1.50 for a mountain buggy (LEGIT)
- It’s taking something and using it for another purpose
Waterside - Arthur's Pass
- It sends water over the road so we they didn’t have to build a bridge
- It is part of the water stream that goes around and around
- It can be for using like a waterside otherwise its DEATH
The Scootboard:
- You can hold onto something and not fall off
- You can’t even ride it properly and do scooter tricks
- It is for people that don’t have a brain to think about how to ride it
Spreadable butter:
- Why is it so cheap for a block of butter for $1.00
- It shows the construction on how it works and what it looks like
- It doesn't make sense because there are easier solutions for this concept
Clothing and equipment:
- The purpose of this concept is that it makes you warm, live and to be happy
- The outdoor pack is to help you carry things so you don't have to carry it yourself with your own hands
- It also has a tent to keep you under shelter and so you don’t get sick and get cold
A van boat:
- Where is the motor or are there rafts to make it move
- It is multipurpose for this concept of the van boat
- Is there a motor if there is it is going to wreck the whole van in general
The cycle mower:
- The cycle mower is easily unstable because it is going to snap of and your head is gonna go through the mower and kill yourself
- The mower is so rusty it is going to break or destroy the whole thing in general
The hedge trimmer:
- The straps that are holding the tractor thing can easily snap off and the human could die.
- Good idea poorly executed.8
- It's an easy way to trim the hedges but is very unsafe. Just use a ladder, people.
Today our teacher put questions on the TV about kiwi ingenuity then we had to answer them. Here are the questions.
1. Which one of these examples of kiwi Ingenuity do you think would be;
A. Of most benefit to New Zealanders? Give a reasonable example
B. Of least benefit to New Zealanders? Give a reasonable example
The most benefit example is the clothing and equipment because from my perspective everyone would use it cause it will help you when you are travelling or going camping somewhere for a holiday. The clothing helps you from being sick and to keep you warm and to keep you alive. The backpack can help you carry your things and for alot of things.
The least benefit example is the spreadable butter because it will be really hard to use from my perspective. I dont know why they made this item when you can easily just put it in the microwave or something to make it softer to spread then making this hard item. So I dont think many people will use this dumb item.
2. Choose the two examples of kiwi Ingenuity that you think would be the most likely to capture the imagination of people in other countries. Justify your choices.
The first one is the clothing and equipment because from my perspective everyone would use it cause it will help you when you are travelling or going camping somewhere for a holiday. The clothing helps you from being sick and to keep you warm and to keep you alive. The backpack can help you carry your things and for alot of things.
The second one is the van boat because it is way cheaper than buying a boat but instead you can just use your fan and make it into a boat. In my head im thinking about the engine at the bottom of the van because it could wreak the whole thing.
