Smoothies - Home Economics

Today in HE we made smoothies and some were delicious and some were gross. When we got into the kitchen we did our per usual things as I always say at the start on every HE blog post. When we were finished doing that we went to our working table each group had a different recipe to make smoothies. Our group had to make the mango and banana smoothie and it was alright, when every group finished making there smoothies we had to go around each table and try them to see what one was better and we had to write it down with the results. Here are all of the ingredients for the smoothies and the full results.

The frozen fruit yogurt smoothie:

Ingredients:

Sorry but I forgot to to write down the ingredients

Results:

9/10

This smoothie was quiet thick but it taste delicious, this smoothie actually was 1 of the best smoothies that one group made today. This smoothie actually tasted like a smoothie but the other ones just tasted like a soft drink.

The flavour was quiet delicious with all of the fruit that they had in it

I definitely would have again

Fresh fruity breakfast smoothie:

Ingredients:

1 cup cold milk or soy milk

1 weet-bix (crumbled up)

1 banana, chopped

1/2 cup fresh or frozen berries

Results:

1/10

This smoothie mostly tasted like a weet-bix smoothie and it was awful. I love weet-bix by itself but not in a smoothie.

The smoothie was very thick, chewy and disgusting. It was not a smoothie it was like a chewy disgusting thick shake. This would be good for a morning smoothie / thick shake as it has weet-bix in it

I would definitely not have it again.

This smoothie tasted very sour and it tasted disgusting. The smoothie was very chewy and thick and it just wasn't the one for me

Easy banana ice cream smoothie: Was made in a food processor

Ingredients:

2 or 3 bananas (peeled, sliced and frozen)

Results:

6/10

This smoothie tasted quiet nice and cold because the bananas were very cold from when they were in the freezer for a few hours.

The texture was quiet thin and chewy, the texture was also very runny

I probably would have again

Our group: Mango and banana smoothie

Ingredients:

½ tin well drained mango slices (cut into pieces)

1 banana - sliced

200ml orange juice or pineapple juice (cold)

½ small apple - optional (cut into small pieces)

2 or 3 small ice cubes

Results:

8/10

Our smoothie tasted quiet sweet and moist, It was good compared to most of the groups

The flavour was alright but it wasn't the best but It would of been better if there was ice.

From my perspective I probably wouldn't have often but I would have it again sometime

The mystery smoothie:

For this smoothie no one knew what was in this smoothie except for the group that had made this smoothie. In this smoothie there was a special ingredient that no one knew what it was.

Ingredients:

Ice cream

Yogurt

Mixed berry's eg  raspberries, strawberry's, blueberry's

Milk

Weet-bix

Honey

Vanilla essence

Results:

12/10

This smoothie was the best one of all because it was just right, it had all of the ingredients mixed together and it was delicious. I was surprised because I didn't know there was honey or vanilla essence in it until our teacher told us all of the ingredients.

I definitely would have it again, I could have it everyday if I could.

The special ingredient was the vanilla essence
