Tapu Ae

Today in PE we had to answer some questions about the game we played called Tapu Ae. Here are the questions we had to answer.

What is Tapu Ae?

Its a Maori game that you can play anywhere if you have the equipment

What are some of the basic rules?

The guardian protects the tupu and tries to stop the other team from knocking the balls off the cones. The guardian must stop the ball with their knees NOT with their hands. You can hit the ball out of the opponents hands. You MUST only have 2 people on each side of the court

What is some of the te reo Maori tupu that we talked about?

Ki ( The ball )
Te Ao ( The zones )
Poi ( The court )
Papa Tākaro ( The playing fields )
What was your role in your team for these games?

My role was a referee and a Ref refs the game and if they have done something wrong They tell them and if they have scored. A referee also whistles throughout the game if something has happened.

What did you enjoy the most about the game?

What I enjoyed the most was trying to hit the ball off the cones and at the start of the game where the 2 people jumped up.

What were some of the drawbacks that you can think of?

That when you ask for the ball they wont give it to you and some people wernt helping the person when they did something wrong so we losed 1 game. The second game we won.

What could your team do better next time you play?

More team work and more helping people when they made a mistake.
